According to Martin Luther King, Jr., Beloved Community is not characterized by the absence of conflict, but by the presence of justice. What does healthy conflict look like? How is conflict resolved? Does reconciliation mean the end of conflict, or its transformation? And what does religion have to do with it?

This service lifts up the themes of Living our values, Hospitality & inclusion, Educating for Liberation, and Restoration and Reparations. What if to "side with love" meant making bold, faith-full choices? What if it were even a little bit scary? This worship service brings together worship leaders and musicians from across the country to offer hopeful, moving, challenging reminders about what we, as Unitarian Universalists, are called to do, and BE, in the world.

Valentines for the Beloved Community

All Ages

On Valentine’s Day, we exchange Valentines with people to show them we love them. It’s easy to name who we love – parents, grandparents, friends, our pets. But what if we wanted to grow that love? We might think of what happens when you throw a stone into a pond. It makes circles, rippling outward bigger and bigger. We’ll make ripple valentines to show how we can grow love beyond boundaries. Please bring colorful paper, scissors, and glue.

Reimagining Religious Community

Rev. Bruce Johnson, Presenting

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced religious communities to reimagine the ways they carry out their mission in the areas of worship, education, pastoral care, and social action. Much of this re-visioning has been underway for some time, called forth by rapidly changing cultural trends, but the pandemic has accelerated the transformation. What have we learning about “doing church” during this time, and what does it mean going forward?
