Amy G. S. A. Brooks is a short, fat, queer, disabled, Australian-born immigrant to the United States who loves a good cup of hot tea and hates mornings.  

Amy is deeply familiar with grief and trauma. She finds truth and meaning in the liminal spaces where humanity encounters the Divine/Other. She also finds truth and meaning in love, laughter, and in the nerdy world of science fiction. Amy shares her home with her wife, Laurie; and claims kinship with their adult children, assorted members of their chosen family, and numerous pets.

Kate Alworth was born and raised in Duluth, spent many years learning and teaching in Idaho while raising some spiritually-minded, well-rounded, mostly well-adjusted kids, and she returned home to Duluth just in time to join the staff at UUCD as the new Director of Religious Exploration. 

Kate believes that each person needs to discover their own definition of faith and try to incorporate spiritual practice daily – even in small bits – like exercise. This journey of discovery takes a whole lifetime - so the earlier we get started, the more we learn about ourselves and the world. Ask big questions, often. Read everything, constantly. Be goofy, for at least a minute – once a day – preferably when a stranger is watching. Even on bad days, nothing moves the spirit like cracking up an unsuspecting stranger with tiny bursts of joy!

Kathy Stinnett loves the smiling faces she sees at her office door during the week! Kathy has served the UUCD congregation as Administrator since 2004, navigating many transitions (new building! new staff! new board members!) and worlds of previously unexplored technology. She wouldn't have missed it for all the tea in China. In Kathy's previous life (before UUCD), she has worked in various accounting and banking positions in Oklahoma, where she is from originally, and in northern Minnesota, where she moved in 1995 with her husband and daughter. Some people can still discern a little Oklahoma accent when they hear Kathy speaking for the first time. Kathy loves to play clarinet in the Twin Ports Wind Orchestra and sing in the Duluth Superior Symphony Chorus. Her other hobbies include summer gardening and all the time reading mystery novels, and occasionally painting in acrylics. But helping the good, caring, energetic members of UUCD keep the beacon of liberal religion in the Twin Ports bright is one of Kathy's greatest pleasures!
